Whether the health of our climate, air and water, the guarantee of reproductive rights, or our interdependent relationship with the natural world, the Jacob and Terese Hershey Foundation supports those working boldly toward a healthy, harmonious world for people and nature.
JTHF Statement on the Election
Like many of you, we are reflecting on the election results, both nationally and here in Texas, and anticipate efforts to backtrack on climate progress and further restrict reproductive rights. Guided by our values of equity, justice and bold action, we will double down on the Foundation’s unwavering determination to support small teams with big punch, and to embrace both systems change and harm repair. We exist to “fund the fighters,” and will continue to support those leading from the front lines.
We are encouraged by the voters of the City of Amarillo, who rejected an abortion travel ban. We are grateful to our partners who educated, organized and mobilized their neighbors to soundly defeat the first anti-abortion ordinance placed on a citywide ballot in Texas. We know that this model of deep, relational community organizing is how we will advance reproductive, climate and environmental justice in our state, and we are committed to supporting this work over the long term.
In solidarity with those striving for change –

Texas Abortion Laws Impacting the OB/GYN Workforce
A new report from Manatt Health Strategies, commissioned by the Jacob and Terese Hershey Foundation and its partners, finds early indications in Texas that abortion restrictions are prompting personal and professional changes among physicians and resident physicians that will reduce access to care, exacerbating the challenges that our state already faces in meeting the demand for reproductive health services.
Are you a small group with a time-sensitive need?
The Jacob and Terese Hershey Foundation is pleased to announce the launch of the Latitude Fund, our new grantmaking program intended to provide quick-turnaround grants to grassroots groups working on environmental and reproductive justice in Texas to enhance capacity, functioning and impact. The inspiration for the Latitude Fund came from our grantee partners, who shared that real-time funding for internal needs can be a game-changer for community groups leading with a justice lens. We’re particularly grateful to the members of the Latitude Fund Committee, a group of leaders with grassroots experience charged with making grant award decisions for the Fund.
